The Palmyra Fire Department is an all volunteer organization that responds to approximately 300 calls a year. The calls range
from public assistance calls such as lock outs and animal rescues, to actual fires in homes, businesses, and vehicles. We respond
to Palmyra and the surrounding communities. The calls can be anytime of the day or night including holidays and weekends.
We
also own and maintain our fire house on Broad Street in Palmyra. This requires us to have fund raisers during the year including a
golf outing, fisherman's flea markewt, and basket bingo events. We are supported by the Borough of Palmyra for our purchase of fire
apparatus and helping with our utility bills. But we need the support of our residents via our annual fund drives to fill the void
and keep the fire house and equipment in good order.
New members will be supplied with all the training and protective clothing
free of charge. The training is required to be a certified firefighter in the state of New Jersey.
The commitment to be a member
will require a commitment of at least 2 Mondays a month for our drills and another Monday a month for our business meeting. There
are also various committies that you may be assigned to.
To join the Palmyra Fire Department you will be required to pass a physical
after completing the interview process. All members must be at least 16 years old and have lived in the Tri-Boro for at least 3 months.
